Sure, not knowing the language of the land you’re travelling at the moment is sometimes really complicated. Ok, it sucks. But there is one big advantage: You’re only looking on the the shape of the letters, ’cause the meaning you do not get anyway. And one of most appealing shapes of foreign languages are the islamic letters.

Because of this fascination for islamic typography I knew that I have to go to the IAMM, when in Kuala Lumpur. The Islamic Arts Museum Malaysia is home to a huge collection of Qurans from all over the world.
